Have you checked for Birts in Gloucestershire? There are lots of them there. My husband's great grandmother was Mary Birt born in 1836 to James and Sarah (Goodall) BIRT in Abersychan, Monmouthshire. James was from Mosely Green in the Forest of Dean, Glocs. His father and mother were William and Jane ? Birt. I can trace William back several generations, but haven't found Jane's maiden name. Nancy
