William & Hannah BIRKETT arr. in South Africa in 1833 where Wm. died & Hannah remarried (Shaw) and the whole family came to
Australia in 1853.

The strong area for the name BIRKETT is Cumbria (Westmorland & Cumberland, Eng.)
