Ann,
did you get anywhere with the above? I have been researching Birkett in Northumberland for quite some time now, and have a lot of info. I do not however have a Robert that would appear to be yours. Only three appear on 1881 census, but the youngest would be over 50 years old by time of marriage. There are none on 1891, so it would seem that your Robert had already left the area. Do you know how old he was when he married. Do you have any other info concerning his back ground. If so, I would be pleased to help, if possible. Any other links you have for birkett, would be appreciated.
