Jerry - a follow up on Orlando W. Birge and wife Elizabeth E.(Parker)(Bonham)Birge. per your message of July 26, 2008.
To start with, Thank you for the info on Olando Birge.
Do you Know his middle name, when & where he was born and just where is he buried? I'm asking for quite a bit I know.
I am sending some info on Wm. N. Bonham, Elizabeth Birge's 1st husband just for your infomation.

of brides parents, Samuel & Rosetta (?)(English)Parker
of Salem, Marion County Oregon Territory by Rev. T. M.
Martin.

CHILDREN: Minnie M. "Mattie" Bonham
Norine "Nora" Bonham
Hazel Bonham, who could be dau. of "Mattie."
(Adopted) James "Jimmy" (???) Bonham (see remarks)

DIVORCED: ? unknown date & place

MARRIED 2nd: M. Tripp; Where ? When?

REMARKS
William Nevill Bonham, known as "Bill" was of French-Irish stock, a tall man weighing in at about 230 pounds. It is said his feet dragged the ground when he was astride a small horse or mule. Bill Bonham, a freighter who drove a ten mule train, made his home at Mount Vernon, Grant County Oregon for many years and nobody, it is said, outdid him as a freighter.
He retired in failing health in 1888 and with a pleasant income moved with his family and adopted Apache Indian boy,James "Jimmy" to Kern County California to a small town he named 'Wasco' formerly called Dewey or Deweyville,(A few miles N.W.of Bakersfield) after his birthplace in Wisconsin

James, better known as "Jimmy" and "Jim" was adopted by the Wm. N. & Elizabeth Bonham on an unknown date & place. He is said to have been an Apache run away or and orphan. He also drove one of Bill Bonhams freight wagons.

ELIZABETH E. (PARKER) (BONHAM) BIRGE
was the daughter of Samuel & Rosetta (???) (English) Parker.
Rosetta, the widow of Willim English m. Samuel in Marion County O.T. in the fall of 1846.
