Mary Magdilene BIRGE Maxson (1820-1910)

Mary was born in Tuscarawas County, Ohio in 1820. I suspect that her father might have been John Maxson, the son of Jonathan Maxson who was born in Monmouth Co., NJ. Her obituary states that Mary's family moved to Clinton County, Ohio in the late 1830 and then to McLean County, Illinois "when she was 18". Mary married Daniel Trask in McLean County and shortly thereafter resettled in Nicollet Co., Minnesota.
My question is, where did the BIRGE name come from? Jonathan Maxson's wife was Mary Magdilene ____. Was BIRGE where maiden name? Anybody with anything on Birges in eastern Ohio from 1800 to 1830 might hold the key to this mystery. Thank you for your help.
