I would like to know how this William Birdwell 'connects' to John Birdwell of Giles CO TN, if at all. We know that John Birdwell, and his brother Joseph, are proven as the sons of Robert Birdwell who d.1815 (Probate filed Giles CO TN). This Robert Birdwell removed to Giles TN from Sullivan CO TN. This Birdwell family originally 'of' VA.
NOTE: 1811-12 Giles CO TN Petition. Individuals subscribed to a petition that the town of Elkton (in Giles TN) be located 4 miles farther up river at Menefee's Ford. This petition was signed by those who had an interest in the development of a town on Elk River, in many cases most likely in regards to a need for shipping products. Of the 136 signers, the following names:

NOTE: 9 June 1815 Giles CO TN Deed Bk-B, p.303, Reg. 20 Feb 1816, William BIRDWELL of Jackson CO TN a Bill of Sale to Mathew CUNNINGHAM of Giles CO TN, sum of $900, a Negro woman named RHODA age abt 25 yrs with 3 children including boy called QUILLA abt 7yrs, ANDREW age abt 3yrs and other boy child MADISON abt 2months Wit: Elijah BOYD and Edward MERCER Dec Term 1815

QUESTION: Who is this Wm Birdwell? & Was he connected to John (s/o Robert d.1815 Giles TN)?

Side NOTE: There is a Wm Birdwell of Jackson CO TN 1820 census age 45>, and in 1830 age 50>60 ... so he was b.bet 1770-1780 and one might guess that this Wm is a bro/o John, or an Uncle. Apparently the elder Robert Birdwell (d.1815 Giles TN) had a half brother named William who was born abt 1772 and researchers of this family state that he removed to Jackson CO TN and that he had a son Joseph b.1809. So this might be Uncle William Birdwell to John Birdwell.

Side NOTE: This 1815 Bill of Sale is the last mention of Wm Birdwell in Giles CO TN found to date.
