These Freeman/Birdsong connections are complicated. I have found Freeman/Birdsong marriages as far back as the mid 1700s in Sussex Co VA. I am the g-g-grandaughter of Jacob Clemmons Clark Freeman and his first wife Elizabeth Ann Gilliam. Jacob's second wife was Martha Ann Birdsong who was later married to Theophilus Harris, the one you are inquiring about. Jacob and Elizabeth had a daughter named Rebecca Freeman who married John William Birdsong. They also had a son named John William Freeman who married Rebecca Birdsong. John William Birdsong's parents were John Birdsong, IV and Mary "Polly" Strong. According to my source, John Birdsong, IV and Mary "Polly" Strong had 6 children. Martha Ann Birdsong is not listed among them. If she was their daughter, Jacob Freeman would have married the his daughter's husband's sister. Although this may be the case, I think it is more likely that she was a Birdsong from another related line. By this time Freemans and Birdsongs had been marrying for over a hundred years. My line: Jacob Clemmons Clark Freeman, b. 1804, Oglethorpe Co. Ga., and Elizabeth Ann Giliam b. 1808 John William Birdsong b. 1822 Oglethorpe Co., and Rebecca Freeman b. 1930, Troup Co. Ga. Anna Catherine Birdsong, b. 1866, Troup Co., Ga., and Dr. R. P. White Pierce G. White and Frances Frost Many Birdsongs of that era seem to be from Oglethorpe County, Ga. Have you searched for her in their archives? Sara Katherine White skwhite@ngs.org
