I think I have finally solved my Birdsong mystery!!!!
But now I am looking for more information on Benjamin Birdsong and to see if any there were any other siblings of this marriage.
My g-g-g-grandmother was Martha Ann Birdsong Freeman Harris. She was born on 29 August 1823 and now believe she was the daughter of Benjamin Birdsong and Martha P. Owen who were married on 12 Dec. 1820 in Oglethorpe Co., Ga. Benjamin died in the same county on 18 March 1826. Martha P. Owen Birdsong remarried Jacob Lunsford of Wilkes Co., Ga. in Oglethorpe Co., Ga. on 25 September 1827. They moved to Wilkes Co., Ga. My g-g-g-grandmother would have only been 4 years old when her father died. Martha A. Birdsong married (1) Jacob Clemmons Clark Freeman, Sr. on 11 August 1850 in Troup Co., Ga. Is there a connection now to this Freeman family and my Birdsongs? I truly believe that this man did not marry just some Birdsong without any family connections. Nobody saw a connection earlier since I did not know possibly the Birdsong male from whom my g-g-g-grandmother descended. Martha A. Birdsong and Jacob Clemmons Clark Freeman, Sr. had three daughters: one who was named Dorothy OWEN Freeman. Thus the repeat of Owen, as in her mothers maiden name. A geneaologist was researching another line of my family and brought the Lunsford marriage to my attention and thus providing the Birdsong clue. Any help greatly appreciated!
