1830 Census
Morris Birdall family consists of 2 males (age range=5 to 10), 1 male (15 to 20), 1 male (20 to 30), 1 male (50 to 60), 1 female (10 to 15), 2 females (15 to 20), and 1 female (30 to 40).
Benjamin Birdsall family consists of 1 male (age range=50 to 60), 1 male (60 to70), 1 female (15 to 20), 1 female (30 to 40), and 1 female (40 to 50)
Clarissa Woolweaver family consists of 2 males (age range 5 to 10 years), 1 female (5 to 10) and 1 female (40 to 50 years old)
Clarissa Woolweaver's headstone appears in the Birdsall family cemetery, wife of Peter, died 1843 at the age of 54
The following four families are all found on page 49 of this 1830 US Census. It is my understanding that the census pages listed families as found in geographic proximity; in other words, the Storms and Birdsalls were probably neighbors. I must check on my old maps (dated 1855) to see if I can find the exact location of the Storm familys home(s).
Abram Storm family consisting of 1 male (age 10 to 15), 1 male (20 to 30), 1 male (50 to 60), 1 female (15 to 20), 1 female (20 to 30), and 1 female (50 to 60)
AS NOTED ABOVE:Abram and his wife Eve are buried in Birdsall Cemetery)
Isaac Storm family consisting of 2 males (less than 5 years old), 2 males (5 to 10), 1 male (30 to 40), 1 female (less than 5), 1 female (15 to 20), and 1 female (30 to 40)
Henry Birdsall family consisting of 1 male (less than 5 years old), 1 male (10 to 15), 1 male (30 to 40), 1 male (60 to 70),female (less than 5), 1 female (10 to 15), and 1 female (40 to 50).
Horace Birdsall family consisting of 1 male (30 to 40), 1 female (5 to 10), and 1 female (20 to 30).
My best guess at this point is that there were two Birdsall branches in Greene, NY.
Henry and Horace were farmers and Morris was townsfolk. There are a series of lawyers and politicians from one of the families. I would venture that it would be the townsfolk. Much more work needs to be done in order to verify this. An archaeological project that I am working on has located the homesites of at least 2 Birdsall farming families (apparently on same tract of land purchased from the Morris and Treat land grant). I am attempting to determine what definate part these families played in the building and tending of the Chenango Canal (Utica NY to Binghamton NY, lifecycle=1837 to 1867). There were stone quaries and canal locks on their land (the remanents of which can still be found {with much guidance} today.
