This is a l-o-n-g shot, but worth a try....
Searching for Bird Bruce who appeared in the 1840 Census living in Nashville Tn, with wife Nancy and 5 sons and 2 daughters.
I believe Bird is a family name,used as a first name, but it could have been a nickname, but I do not think so. My guess is Bird was his mothers maiden name.
Census states they were both born in North Carolina. I am guessing they married 1820-1825 either in NC or Tenn. Bird is buried in the old city cemetery downtown Nashville. He died in 1866.
Children of Bird and Nancy Bruce are:
Born 1825 - Hezekiah J. Bruce married Sarah House
1830 - Minerva J.Bruce married F. Wohlenberg on 2/12/1863 in Nashville.
1832 - George Washington Bruce married Frances Byrnes Green (my line)
1834 - Henry
? James M. married Sarah?
