Dear Scott Bird
I have the census for 1861 for Thomas Bird. Thomas 45 Elizabeth 46 & 3 children Ephraim 18 Thomas 10 Joseph 8 Mary Elizabeth 5. The last 3 were born in North America,British-[can't read next word].At this time they lived in West Bromwich.Thomas & Ephraim were Sawyers.1871 census Thomas [father] no longer listed.They are living in Smethwick.Elizabeth a shopkeeper,Ephraim a carriage fitter,Thomas, Timber Bar.Job descriptions difficult to read.Joseph not listed. Thomas Bird [father] either died between 1861 and 1871 or he returned to North America. I could not find a death date for him during those years. Hope this helps you. May Bumford.
