CHRISTINIA (LEOPOLD) SEUFER was born in Wittenberg (sic), Germany,
November 28, l827. She came to America with her parents and settled in
Ohio, in l859. In the year of l847 she was married to BEVERLY HOGAN,
who died in l853. To this union were born three children: CATHERINE
WARE, of Centerville, Iowa; ANNA WARE, of Auburn, Washington; MARTIN
HOGAN, who died in l864. In l856 she was married to MATHIAS SEUFER. In
l864 they moved to Decatur County, residing on a farm near Woodland. To
this union were born six children: GEORGE SEUFER, of Walker, Minnesota;
MARY BIRD, of Diagonal, Iowa; LEWIS SEUFER, who died in l883; ELIZABETH
BENNETT, of Woodland Township; LOTTIE JENNINGS, of High Point Township
and CAROLINE BYRUM, of Chariton, Iowa.
MR. SEUFER died in l902, and since then she had made her home with her
children and had the past four years made her home with her oldest
daughter, MRS. R.L. WARE, of Centerville, where she died September l4,
l9l5. She had been a member of the Lutheran Church since the age of
fourteen years.
The remains were shipped to Lineville Thursday and the funeral was held
at the A.C. Church at Woodland, Friday morning at ll o'clock, conducted
by Rev. B. Frank Jacobs, of the Leon Presbyterian Church. Interment at
the Lentz Cemetery by the side of her husband. A large concourse of
relatives and friends were present which shows the esteem she was held
in, in this community and heartfelt sympathy is extended to the bereaved
and sorrowing ones.

Dearest loved one we've laid thee
In the peaceful grave's embrace,
But thy memory will be cherished
'Till we see they Heavenly face.
Sweet mother thou art gone;

An angel came and hushed thy voice
And bore thee home to rest.
Sad hearts remain at home;
Will miss thee whom we love;
We'll meet thee by and by
In that sweet home above.
