Maryville Times, Thursday, October 17, 1940: “Obituary---Charles Lester Birchfield fell asleep in the arms of Jesus, Sept. 28, 1940. He was born Aug. 29, 1937, being 3 years, 1 month old at the time of his death. He was the son of Mr. & Mrs. George Noah Birchfield. He was helpless and also has been a cripple all of his life. But was always cheerful and happy. His favorite song he was always singing was “Jesus Love Me,” and was always talking about how Jesus died on the cross. Lester was loved by all who knew him. He leaves to mourn his death his parents, a brother, Chester, and a sister, Pauline Mary, other relatives and friends. The flower girls were: Dorothy England, Nona Cable, Faye Coada and Jessie Birchfield. Pallbearers were: Theodore Myers, Wiley Tipton, Clyde Birchfield and Floyd Tipton. The remains were laid to rest in the Cades Cove Baptist Cemetery under a beautiful blanket of flowers.” Notify Administrator about this message?
