this is what I have thus far:
the earliest Birchell I have begins with a George Birchell born 1825(spelt this way in several censuses) who was married to a Lydia Unknown. She was born 1832 and died September 23, 1869 in Rhode Island. According to the 1880 Lonsdale Rhode Island Census, George had a brother named John also from England and a sister named Francis (fannie) married to a Lambert.
George and Lydia immigrated to the US from England in 1855 according to a 1900 census. They resided in the Lonsdale area of Rhode Island. Later, George can be found in the Providence Lincoln town area in the 1900 census.
The known living children of this union were:
George B. Birchall b January 1860
Sarah Anne Birchall
James Henry Birchall (my line)
George marries a Mary E in 1882 and they have at least 1 child named George A b- 1887 who marries a Olive M Bliven on April 24, 1916 in RI.
James Henry married Anne Elizabeth Cork and they moved to Lowell, ma
Once Lydia dies in 1869 George married a Sarah Duxbury who had been married to a Lambert. She dies July 22, 1882.
according to the 1900 RI census, George married again and is listed as being 64 years old and being born in England. I am unable to make out the name of his 3rd wife on the census but maybe someone elese will give it a try. This wife is from Scotland.
Other names on this census are:
agnes, jessie, ollie, david. They are living next door to Benjamin Lambert who was the stepson to George via his 2nd wife.
