We are Wakefield Binns's.My father was Albert Edward Binns d.o.b.29.7.1912. d 27.7.1999. His father was Edwin Binns. d.o.b.1882 in wakefield.d.8.2.1954.He married Emily Beaumont from Birstall near Leedsd.o.b.29.11.1880.d.13.1,1978.date of marriage 1.8.1908.Edwins father was Bartholomew Binns d.o.b 1857 in Wakefield.d.14.4.1927.He was known as the Hallelujah Sweep due to him being a reformed alcoholic which was brought about by joining the Salvation Army.(there is quite a story attached to this)He married Maria Ramsden and they had 9 children.I have most of their names. There is a Benjamin Binns b approx 1837 who,it is said ,had 22 children.I have a few Benjamin Binns' in my data but not too sure I have got the right one here. There is also a Bartholomew Binns in my family who was a hangman/barber and lived at Dewsbury. It is said that the Hallelujah sweep was a 5th generation sweep and my grandfather, his brother Bartholomew(nickname Bath),Baths son Dennis and I think his son Leslie also plus my father all worked as chimney sweeps for part of their lives.I have other data if you would like to contact me at [email protected] I will pass any other data on to you.Doreen
