Hello again, Carol,

Thank you for answering my post. Did a bit more digging and this MAY be when Charles came to the US:

Philadelphia Passenger Lists, 1800-1945
about Charles Bingley
Name: Charles Bingley
Arrival Date: 13 Jun 1876
Age: 26 Years
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1850
Gender: Male
Port of Departure: Liverpool, England
Ship Name: Lord Clive
Port of Arrival: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Microfilm Roll Number: M425_94

He was a Fitter, i.e. machinist
The year he was born fits the US records closely. Do believe the "immig at 1855" was an error.

If you get a change, go to Kew House where all the records are held.

Also, if you get one of the children's birth certificates, it may say where in England his parents were born, plus mother's maiden name.

Hope you have wonderful luck in England and Cornwall in September!

Regards,
Sue Nass
