March 10/05 Linda: We do have a Charlotte Robertson b. 1868 who married Albert Charles Bingley b. 1871. It is reasonable that you might have read her name as Charlotte Bingley while researching. We did not call Charlotte b.1868 (Lottie). They did have a child born in 1906 whom we did name Lottie. Her husband Albert did not have any sisters named Lottie or Charlotte. He did have two sisters who married Lanark County men. One married an Umpherson and the other married a Barr man. As for the Bingleys of Brighton, I saw a reference from the Cornwall Bingleys regarding the marriage of Hannah Hutcheson to one Thomas Bingley.....of I believe Carrying Place. I suspect that Charlotte Bingley is either Thomas' sister or daughter. That information came from Robert Bingley Sr. of Cornwall Ont. He still lives there. He also has a son by the same name in that town of Cornwall. Robert Bingley Senior of Cornwall had some old family records. My grandfather always maintained that our familes were connected when they came here from England, but I have never in 7 years been able to find the common old ancestor that ties it all together. Old Mr.Charles Bingley b. 1822 in England had a sister Amelia b. 1818 England. They moved to Canada with their mother Elizabeth Playfair Bingley. This was in 1843. At that time, we could not find her husband...the father of these two children. I have always felt that (Mr. Bingley)the husband of Elizabeth Playfair and the father of Charles and Amelia in all probability had other brothers and or sisters. I believe this is where the Cornwall, Brighton, and Orillia Bingleys all have a common denominator in England. I spoke with Robert Bingley in Cornwall a few years ago. I looked at some faxed records he sent, but I could not find the common thread I was seeking. I have followed Baptismal records for Charles 1822 and his sister Amelia 1818, and the father is named as William Bingley, but I have no record of him ever coming to Canada, and certainly not to Lanark County. In the 1851 census for Bathurst I find old Mrs. Bingley (nee Elizabeth Playfair) as Mrs. E. Bingley (Married). In the 1861 census for Bathurst I find her as Mrs. E. Bingley (widowed and blind). I still could not find the death of her husband. I cannot even find the official death record of Mrs. Elizabeth Playfair Bingley here in my own County, or her place of burial !! If I could find Mr. William Bingley in England or Canada, I would hope to be able to find the missing brothers or sisters.....assuming there are others, and that would tie us all together. I wish I could be more help, but I am like you.......having looked everywhere. In England the records don't really start to have any formal recognition until 1837 which leaves a window of lost time for me. The years prior to 1837 would be the time that the Bingley families would have migrated to Canada and up the St. Lawrence Seaway and it would not be unreasonable that they have settled in Cornwall, Brighton, or beyond. Please feel free to e-mail me at home. bingtree@superaje.com Sincerely Kevin Brian Bingley b. 1954 Notify Administrator about this message?
