Patsy: This is an old note that I had exchanged with Don Bingley...........perhaps he could give you a little more direction in this matter re: Bingley & Hutcheson. Don is connected to the Corwall, Ontario Bingleys. Hope this is of some help. Kevin Bingley This note was from June of 2003. You will see Dons inquires listed on the Message Listings on the Gen-Page. Kevin I'm in the middle of getting boats ready to sail and pruning and a bunch of other stuff so I'm getting back to you because I want you to know that I'm quite interested but focussed elsewhere at this very moment! Logically, the surname Bingley is not one that crowds of people have. You would question there being 2 Thomas Bingleys hanging out in the same general area at the same general time. The Thomas Bingley that lived in Grafton and owned property does not seem to be the same person as my gg grandfather Thomas though. Thomas Bingley of Brighton gave his trade as a shoe maker and in 1901 as a labourer. He lived right next to his son, Wallace, in 1901 and Ross in Cornwall recalls the house in Carrying place where they lived. Thomas gave his place of origin as Ireland, as did at least some of his children. He came from Hilliers township according the to marriage license. Allegedly he was born in Ontario but proof of that is unknown. There is a William Bingley listed in an 1881 (I think) census that lived in the town of Wellington. His wife is listed as Jane Ann and I think was Jane Ann Post. I believe this to be my great grandfather . Years ago my dad said he believed that Jane was a relative of the Post cereal people. At any rate Bill also gave his origin as "Irish" in this census. Ross gave me a copy of the church records. Thank goodness some early members of the family felt it important enough to keep! When my aunt gets back from Florida in another month we plan to tweak her memory and see what stories she remembers. I plan to prowl around carrying place cemetery to find old Tom. There are a couple of other Bingleys that are buried there that Cornwall Ross didn't know of. Wouldn't it be nice if the computer had been invented in 1800? Of course where would you plug it in!!! Best regards Don Bingley Notify Administrator about this message?
