You are correct, his birth year was actually 1862. based on his death Certificate. He died September 29, 1935 at Millville, Grant County, Wisconsin. His death Certificate states he died at 73 yrs 4 months 19 days. By my calculations that was a birth date of May 10, 1862.
I have been unable to locate him in any records from 1890 to 1920. He is listed in the 1870 and 1880 Census as living with his Uncle Stephen Girard Bingaman. He is listed in the 1920 and 1930 Census for Millville, Grant County, Wisconsin.
His son George William Bingaman is listed in the 1900 Census age 13 living with James Mattern as a hired farm laborer, no sign of his father
