Andrew Bilyeu - Illinois (1842-1901)
I am trying to do a little research on my mother's side of the family tree. Recently, I inherited some very cool stuff from the Bilyue side of our family. Andrew Bilyue was born in Bond County, February 14, 1842. He was a member of Company D, 22nd Illinois in the Civil War. He married Letitia Jane Sprague (b- 12/06/1862) in 1879. They had five children. Andrew died March 22nd 1901.
In Andrew's (Andy's) Civil War diary, he writes about the battle of Chickamauga and that Joseph M. Bilyue and Henry File were both killed on Semtember 19, 1863. Andrew doesn't mention who Joseph is... Is he a brother, a cousin? On a civil war site I found that they both are listed with the last name "Bilyen" and are from Pocahontas, Illinois. I know the site simply has the name spelled incorrectly, as I have his diary and discharge papers. They must be related, I just don't know how.
If any of you can help me out with siblings, parents, grandparents, etc., I would really appreciate it. Also, if any of you are directly related to Andrew Bilyeu, I'll send you copies of some of the stuff I have.
Blessings,
Cory Beeson
