In the 1860 IA Census he is listed as J.J. Bilsland, b. IN ca 1832. He is living with his wife, Caroline Garrett (Rebecca Caroline) and her parents in Four Mile Twp. Polk Co., IA. Also listed in the 1860 IA Census in Douglas, Boone Co., IA is a John Bilsland, 29, b. IN and his wife, Eliza, 23, IL. In Ida Bilsland Eell's obit, Jackson Bilsland's daughter, her father is listed as dying in the Civil War. A James J. Bilsland served in Co. B,, 11th IN Infantry during the Civil War. A James J. Bilsland is listed in the 1850 IN Cen as living in Troy, Fountain Co., IN with his widowed mother, Lydia, 51, b. DEL. His siblings are: Fidelia, 21, IN; Matilda, 19, IN; Reuben, 15, IN; Mary, 13, IN; Isaac, 10, IN. Nearby is a Benjamin Bilsland, 27, b. OH; Nancy, 18, KY; John, 1, IN. and a Susan Bilsland, 55, VT; Eliza, 22, IN; Mary, 20, IN; John, 18, IN; Lucinda, 16, IN; Tamy?, 13, IN; Louretta?, 10, IN [Louretta is listed on pg. 109 by herself at the top on a split page.
