Elijah Bill(s) 1749-1833 ??>NY
I am looking for information on an Elijah Bills who fought in the Rev. War.He came to Haddam, CT from Nova Scotia and joined up in 1775.After the war at some point he married a Lydia (last name unknown) and had a number of children including 6 that died after 1833.These six are Daniel (married a Whipple girl and died before 1852 in Tompkins Co.), Lydia Whipple (who was born in 1784 and married Ithamar Whipple), Elijah Jr (b. ca. 1785), Polly Cheney, Hannah Hamilton and Edmund C.
Elijah lived in Cayuga Co., NY from 1797 to 1825 and the family was Baptist.Lydia "wife of Elijah" is buried in Fleming Hill Cemetery having died in 1824 (I saw the stone) at age of 75 years.Elijah moved to the town of Perry, Genesse Co., NY which became Wyoming Co in 1841.He is buried there as is his son Edmund (b. ca. 1804 and had $18,000 real estate in 1850 census).Elijah Jr's occupation was listed as "hotel" in 1850 census in the town of Gainesville, Wyoming Co., NY.
Anyone with any information on this family please email me directly.I am particularly interested in Daniel (possibly the eldest child), Elijah Sr's wife Lydia, and Elijah Sr.There is some speculation in a book that Elijah Sr. may have been an "Elisha baptized in 1751", but his pension file lists him as born in 1749 so I am unsure of connection especially as Elijah could write.
