David:

Thanks for troubling to respond to my post about Joseph Billiter fl PA 1800-1820.

We have Samuel as the G-grandson of Joseph fl 1671 MD. Joseph -> Thomas -> Daniel -> Samuel -> ? About Samuel:

Pierce's register:

- Cert 55330 Billeter, Samuel $40.60
- Cert 55066 Billetter, Samuel $80.00
- Cert 54651 Bitter, Samuel $70.40
Certificates 54120-55372 were issued to "Delaware Regiment, Lieut. Col. J. Vaughn; William McKennan, agent."

My summary of Revolutionary war records at the National Archives about Samuel:

Hall's Delaware Regiment. Private. Enlisted 2/14/1782 at age 18. Height 5-4, farmer, b Delaware. Residence: Kent Co, Delaware. Brown hair, fair complexn, mustered 2/15/1782. Made his mark when signing for rations. Fit for duty at inspection at Philadelphia 12/18/1783. Enlistment bounty was (pounds, shillings, pence) 6,18,7 plus 3,0,0 reward for enlisting. Unpaid 2,1,5.

Recently I checked the _DAR Patriot Index_ (plus two supplements) and there was no entry for Samuel or any other Billiter, or variants of the name.

We also have a summary of Daniel's will of 7/22/1791, wherein he refers to Samuel as his"ondutifull son" who gets "5 shillings if he should demand it." Let me know if you would like a summary of the will.

Best, Jim Billiter - Jim@Billiter.com
