I just didn't wait long enough for the Web site to respond. A copy follows of the e-mail message my query for 'Billeter' generated. Note that 'Bilten' and Canton Glarus are not mentioned before the 1600's.
But I do note that 'Biliton, heute Bilten GL' gives much more credibility to a Swiss origin in Bilten, Canton Glarus.
