Mary J. Billiter was born about 1848; lived with parents, Charles Billiter and Mary (Green) Billiter in 1850 and 1860 census. She lived with her brothers, William C. and James D. (my gr.grandfather) in 1870 census. She was back home with her parents in 1880 census.

James M. Billiter was raised as a son to Charles and Mary. However, he was their grandson. A cousin recently told me that family tradition holds that Mary J. was the mother of James M. Billiter. However, either Tabitha or Luvena could have easily been his mother. I, too, have been searching for an answer to this puzzle. If you learn the answer, please share it. Thanks!!!
