How fascinating this is. Mine is spelled "slea". I'm just beginning my hunt of William Yancy born on 11/11 about 1862. Lived somewhere around the Missouri area. Married twice, first wife died - had 2 children, Fern and Harold. Then married Mildred Braley and had Carmen, William Elbert, and Ellen Roberta.
I guess he had some kind of a falling out with a sister (he had 2 and 1 brother) and his folks didn't approve of how he lived his life (a drinker in younger days). I also understand his folks or some relatives were somewhat well to do.

Does anything ring a bell with anything you've found?
