Check a book called 'Cherokee Roots' by Bob Blankenship, PO Box 525, Cherokee NC 28719. Lists of names from numerous censuses of the Cherokee prior to & after Trail of Tears. It looks like my Cherokee would come from the Brown/Byers line of the family. There are too many Browns listed to count, a few Byers, very few Billingsleas & no Birdwells.
Look online by punching in dawes/ guion miller (the names of the rolls) or try
nara.gov/nara/nail/nailgen.html.
Cherokee Names & Facts, (704)497-9709. Apparently someone will research for you for a fee, I haven't tried. Typing in 'dawes guion miller rolls' will take you to other sites which may help. We haven't checked them all yet. Good luck hunting, If we find more, we will let you know. L & A
