Hi Roberta,
I am a descendant of Catherine’s older brother, Walter Billingsley (1808-1882), so we are probably distant cousins. Walter stayed in Franklin Co., Ohio as did most of his siblings. However, some, like Catherine, John and James, moved on to Iowa and a couple of sisters (Ann and Mary) eventually settled in Kansas.
Catherine’s parents, Samuel and Catherine (Hook) Billingsley are buried in the Powell Cemetery in Southern Delaware Co., Ohio. Samuel’s tombstone was barely legible when I saw it about 25 years ago. He died 4 January 1863; Catherine (Hook) died 8 August 1875. They were from the Harford and Baltimore Co., Maryland area having married there 19 June 1805. Samuel’s parents were Walter Billingsley (1744-1805) and Ruth Clarke.
