The "Billingslea"s (most of them) can be traced back to the 1800's when one son for whatever reason changed his name from Billingsley. It probably was spelled orginally "slea". The family came from Com Salop, England. They migrated here in the 1600's. The family is known as "Ancient Planters" having come before the Mayflower. The family left because of religious differences. They left England once before and settled in Rotterdam, Holland. All this information you can read in the book of the "Billingsley Family in America". It is out-of-date, but can be rented at any local LDS genealogical center. Hope this helps. Lynn
