My father Alfred M. Billingsley told me that his grandmother was 1/2 Cherokee. He did not say which side, his mother's or father's, so the grandmother 1/2 Cherokee would be either Lou Verne Birdwell or Paralee Byers. Paralee Byers' parents were Moses Byers and Elizabeth Cooke. Don't know if any of these were in Indian Territory, but everyone was born Jackson County Tenn. area.
