The Clayton Tribune (Rabun Co. GA) Thursday, November 30, 1939, Page 1:
“Centenarian Visits---Mr. J.R. Billingsley, a native of this county, who was born at Pine Mountain, and reared at Walhalla, [South Carolina] but now a citizen of Cedartown, [Georgia] and who will be 107 years old next January, was a recent visitor to Mr. W.F. Holden. Mr. Billingsley is active and gets about surprisingly, and reads without glasses. He can tell some interesting history of the early days of this section when the Indians were here.” ---L.P.
