Hi:

My name is Clare Louise Billett and I am now living in Pennylvania, USA, although I grew up in London, England. My sister, Alison Elizabeth Billett (now Smith) and I
are the descendents of Roy James Billett (with brother Stanley Lewis Billett, with one daughter - Penelope Jane Billett (now Elliot)).

His father was Henry Lewis Billett, and his father was also Henry Lewis Billett. My father, grandfather and greatgrandfather were all living in the Islington, London area most of their lives.

Partly becuase we 3 girls are the last of our part of the Billett family name, I have started a family tree for our entire family (not just Billetts) at ancestry.com website, and will send guest invitiations (just email me at clarejason@care2.com)from that website so whomever wants one can review the Billett's that we know of (back to about the 1880's right now) - they may be of interest to you. My greatgrandfather may have had several brothers, all of whom may have been brought up in a children's in Islington, London.

I am emailing the following people from the http://genforum.genealogy.com/billett/
website, since they all mentioned interesting Billett resources that I would like to track down or follow up on:

John mentioned "If you're interested in the Billet[t?]s then please send -email to john.billett@lineone.net.
I will ensure you get access to the Billett Web site with an emerging resource and chat room"

Jesse mentioned "my great uncle Fred Billett made an exhaustive family tree of all descendents of Stephen Billett, who arrived in Canada from England in 1846". Can I get a copy? and is this the same document that Michael (below) mentioned?

Michael mentioned "The American branch have an extensive tree and a booklet"....do you know how I can get a copy, especially if you think it's different to the one Jesse mentioned above.

Geoffrey and Kate - you both seem to crop up all over and be generally interested in the Billett family tree, so I thought it would be good to make contact with you both.

I was also researching Billetts today on the Mormon church geneology wesite (www.familysearch.com) and found over 800 references to Billetts in the UK. I have downloaded about 150-200 of them to work through in the next few months to see if we can work back past our greatgrandfather (Henry William Billett - born around 1880? with 2 or
3 brothers brought up in a children's home in Islington). This is were we are stuck right now.

Looking forward to hearing from any of you,

Thanks,
Clare

PS FYI - I am copying the body of this email to selected postings at the http://genforum.genealogy.com/billett/
website, as well as to Alison and Penny Billett.
