My gg grandfather (ALFRED WOOD) came to Wayne Co., PA about 1840 +/- from Fishkill on the Hudson, by way of "Binghamton, NY" where he met and married my gg grandmother, Mary BIGSBY. She was born around 1815. I am unable to find any other reference to her, anywhere.
The Wayne County census of 1850 lists them with a couple of children. They were not listed in the census of 1840. In checking some of the early Broome County census, there were no BIGSBY's listed, some Bixby's. However, in the Chenango County census of 1830, there was a Peter Bigsby listed with a female child. there are also some BIGSBY's over in PA.
I understand that Binghamton did not officially become a city until about 1850. So please consider Binghamton as a broad area in Broome, Chenango and Bradford in PA.
I need all the help I can get.
Cheers and please reply to me at the email address shown below
Thanks in advance.
