Uh-oh, family myth alert. You wrote "...the family still insists that they lived on Bigsby Island though, and that is in the Ontario Providence." Bigsby Island is in Lake of the Woods, on the western boundary of Ontario province. It is named after Dr. John Jeremiah Bigsby of Nottingham, England, who was in Canada in the 1820's and served as a member of the International Boundary Commission which surveyed the US/Canada boundary through the Great Lakes to Lake of the Woods. Neither he nor any other Bigsby ever lived on the island (he returned to the UK.) Nice story, but.... - Jim Bigsby, Victoria, Canada
