Geneva: Thank you for the information. It sounds like the same family to me, except that David was born May 25, 1828. He died Dec. 6, 1887 in Grant Parish, Louisiana, age 59. I recently visited his grave in Bodie's Landing Cemetery in Grant Parish. His wife, Sarah Catherine White, was born Feb. 12, 1835 in Wilkinson Co., Mississippi and died Nov. 21, 1887 in Grant Parish, LA, age 52. She is buried next to David. He is my g-g-grandfather. His son was Jolissaint Bignar who married Georgiann Hawthorn. Their daughter, Nancy Leonie Bignar, married James Wilson Yule. Their daughter, Kathryn Yule, is my mother. She married Rodney Lavon Paul.

Was John W. the immigrant ancestor? Do you know what county he is from in SC?

I was very lucky to have found among the probate records of my g-g-g-grandfather, Col. Charles Knight, in Natchez, Mississippi, an IOU from John Bignar to Charles Knight in the amount of $2.00. It is signed by John and seems to be written in his hand. Please don't take me wrong; I don't mean to be argumentative, but the name seems to be spelled "Bignar". I will be happy to scan the IOU and e-mail it to you if you would like. Just send me your e-mail address to: StephaunNY@aol.com.

Thanks again for the information. I hope to hear from you.

Stephaun
