Ann,

There appear to be more than one man names Charles Bigley. I am going to guess that the Charles Bigley who married Sarah Chevalier was an uncle to the Charles Bigley who was a brother of Sylvester and Solomon.

In the 1860 Census - Olive Twp., Meigs Co., OH (Longbottom Post Office) I can find a Charles and Sarah Bigley with children John, Marietta, David, Charles and Simeon. This Charles was then 37 years old and born in PA. That indicates he was born in 1822 or 1823. A 13 year old Sylvester Bigley appears with the John Taylor family who lived next door.

The Charles Bigley who was a brother of Sylvester and Solomon was born in July 1840 in Ohio. He married Catherine Lane in 1863 in Lebanon Twp., Meigs Co., OH. This Charles' father was Andrew Bigley who was born in 1809 or 1810 in PA.

I would guess it very likely that Andrew Bigley (born 1809/10 in PA) and Charles BIgley (born 1822/3 in PA) are related - perhaps brothers or cousins. Andrew Bigley and family are enumerated in the 1850 Census in Olive Twp., Meigs Co., OH. This lists Andrew and Mary Bigley with children Charles, Solomon, Anna, Sylvester and Andrew.

I connect through the Lane family. Hope this helps.

Blair
