My Great Grandmother on the Osborne side was Sarah Biggs Osborne the wife of Wilborn Green Osborne. Sarah's parents were Benjamin Biggs and Lydia ? Biggs. The first time they are listed in the Ashe Co Census lists is 1870. In 1870 Benjamin was listed as being 45 years of age and Lydia listed as being 40 years of age. I have been unable to find any trail earlier in Ashe Co documentation. Does anyone have any information maybe in Johnson Co., TN for earlier listings or maybe in VA or other NC counties. My Grandmother Ella Osborne Graybeal had a couple of pictures of Kiturah Biggs and Sarah and a note about Wiley Biggs but none of this correlates to the Ashe Co. 1870 listings. Here is what is listed in the 1870 Census listings: 111. Biggs, Benjamin 45 Farmer 500 500 Lydia 40 William W. 18 Sarah 16 Freeman, Malvina 8 Biggs, Levi 6 It is possible? that William W is also Wiley. I always thought that Sarah had a brother named Wiley. There are some cryptic notes on the back of some pictures that could be interpreted that Wiley and Kiturah were married. I believe I have a picture of Sarah and Kiturah together. I hope that someone will have some tie to someone in the above listing so we can tie back to Sarah through them. But it is interesting that there is no record anywhere I can find that shows the Biggs before 1870. I have been working with the Hartsoe/Hartzog/Hartsog family researchers and they had also asked me about the Biggs. It seemed like they had some vague reference that Ms Biggs had come to Ashe Co. to help take care of some one and they had no reference to where she came from. I will also check with them to see if they have found anything in the last few months. Thanks in advance. Notify Administrator about this message?
