I would like to interact with researchers who have done work on this family. My gggrandmother was Laura A. Biggs, born in Indiana in 1848. Some recent research I've done has indicated that she might be connected with Josiah's family. Here is what I have so far, and I welcome any comments. Laura was born in 1848 and was an orphan. I found her living with her brother Harvey (b.1854) and sister Martha (b.circa 1850) on the Fountain Co. Indiana census of 1860. They lived with a woman named Nancy Wood, b.1807 in Virginia. Harvey Biggs is on the census of 1880 in Warren Co., Indiana living in the home of Zachariah Clem. I've looked up some Clem research and found that the family was related to Elizabeth Biggs who married Isom Hiatt in Ohio in 1824. They had a son named Newton Biggs Hiatt. Some researchers have shown, and marriage records of Clinton Co., Ohio seem to verify, that she was a daughter of Josiah Biggs. Her brothers were Reuben, Josiah, Uriah, Daniel, and William. All of them went to Indiana. A Martha Biggs is on the 1870 census of Johnson Co., indiana living with the Alexander family. They, too, were related to the Clems. Also, the Clem family had a relationship to the Wood families from Virginia. The connection with Fountain County comes from the census of 1830. Uriah Biggs (married Sarah Smith in Ohio, 1824) is there. My feeling is that the orphaned Biggs children had some connection to Uriah and his family. If anyone has done research on Josiah and his descendents, please contact me. Notify Administrator about this message?
