Thank you for your reply to my query about the Biggs family. I will take you up on your kind offer to provide me with information about the Biggs family. I was at a loss to know where to find any information about Mary (Biggs) Howell, my great-great-grandmother. The information I have about her is what was found on the 1861 Census for Weldford, Kent County, New Brunswick. She was married to a Patrick Welch but four of the children listed were as follows:
George Abner Howell born 1842, James Taylor Howell, born 1851, Annamiah Biggs Howell, born 1855 (male) and Mary Ellis Howell born 1858. In the census Mary (born 1815) is listed as Mary Elis Welch born 1815, English, Presbyterian and born in Amherst, Nova Scotia. My grandfather James T. Howell named his children Victoria Marianne, Melvina Alice and William Wesley. Mary had died before 1871 as Patrick Welch had a new wife with him on the 1871 Census. I know some of these names will strike a bell with you but are there any other clues that you find interesting in your study of the Biggs's names. Thank you again. - This info further to posting #1485. Also a cousin of mine, Adelaide Biggs in Alice Twp, Ontario, daughter of Samuel S. Biggs and Rachel England, told me she corresponded with the Bateman's on Shediac Road
- Also Re J Biggs in NB and/or UEL (?posting 187) I have found Joseph Biggs and John Biggs listed with Aaron Sweezey on a 1785 Land Petition in Northumberland County, NB
- And a William Biggs was on the same UEL muster roll as Aaron Sweezey
- Re your message posting #197 - I can add some information to your listing if you have not already done so and if you would like.
- Samuel Biggs (b1811?) and Ann Sweezey (b1814?) were my great great great grandparents. I have lots of conflicting information so I would appreciate connecting with you plus there are a lot of blank spaces.
