Hi Beth...I am trying to remember whether I have replied to your message. I have replied to several others who were researching William Jackson Biggs.

He was my great grandfather. William Monroe Biggs was my grandfather and he was born in Springfield, Missouri on July 19, 1849. He died ( I believe in Mountain Grove) on July 9, 1925, just a few short days from his birthday. My father Lawrence Monroe Biggs was present at his death.

I am particularly interested in what you know about William Jackson Biggs. Some geneology sources indicate he was born in Douglas County, but I have my doubts. You indicate he was born in Tennessee. Do you know where in Tennessee he was born and do you know the complete given name and birthplace of HIS father? This is vital information for me to be able to trace further back.

My family tree records indicate that the father of William Jackson Biggs was William and that HIS father was also named William. However, I do not have any birthdates or birthplaces for either of them.

I have a family history and a family tree that my father came up with in 1946 by interviewing an 87 year Eugene Biggs who still had some knowledge of ancestral relationships. I would be happy to send it to you by e mail if you are interested. Just let me know if you want it.

I can tell you a little bit about Jennie (William Monroe's sister) since she was alive until the late thirties or forties. She was elderly when she died and she had a fiesty pet parrot and lived with Eula and Glenn Hawkins on their farm in south Springfield. Their farm was where Venture (now K Mart ) is located near Glenstone Avenue and Fremont St. In other words the city moved out south of town and overtook their farm which worked out to their advantage.

I would be interested in hearing your comments on some of the issues raised herein.

Larry Biggs
