Hi Lucy, I have a Biggs line in my ancestry. The first ancestor in America that relates to me is John Biggs who came in 1664 with Sir Richard Nicols in the forces against New Amsterdam. From his marriage record in 1686 we know he came from Worchestershire, Engand probably from Lenchwick and Norton near Evesham. There are Tombstones at the Church which record the Biggs family, a Father and his son and family. I believe this family is a branch of the family in Leicester, England. It is my understanding that the origin of the name Biggs is an old anglo-saxon custom which uses a physical feature or attribute as the basis for a surname. In This case, most likely the original ancestor was Tall or at least taller than his neighbors. Good luck with your school project. Jo Gordon
