Bies in Bay County, MI

I am looking for information on Joseph, August, and Frank Bies who immigrated in the mid 1880s and at least for a time settled in Bay City, Bay County, MI. I have found Joseph and August's families in the 1900 and 1910 census. They give immigration in 1884, Joseph, and 1885/1886, August. But I have not been able to find ship records yet. Family Oral History is that their mother was Anna Gurzynsi, she had remarried to a Paul [Peter] Heron. I have found Mariann Janowicz, daughter of Paul Heron and Anna Gurzynsi in the Hamburg Records. Ignacz Janowicz, Marianna, child, and Jon Janowicz immigrated on the Moravia departing Hamburg 18 Nov 1883 and arriving in New York on 5 Dec 1883. It looks like last residence was listed as Gr. Jablau, WP and the New York Port lists Prussia. I would like to find the records for Joseph, August, and Frank Bies to see if they also list Gr Jablau as their last residence.

One other question: What are the alternative spellings I should look for both English and German. I have found Beis transcribed as Biss in a Census. I don't know how the word would sound.

Thank you,
Pattie
