Dear Lisa Williams, Through my mother, Marguerite Lynette Bienvenu, I am also a descendant of the La. Family of Pierre Antoine Bienvenu. Details of my ancestry can be found at www.walshgenealogy.com. Both Pierre Terville and Francois Theodule are among them. Thus we seem to be 3rd cousins, once removed.(Yours is the younger generation.)
Also like you, I.ve been stymied by the deKerlegand- Grimblot family. Dr. W.Z. Bienvenu seems to be the most knowledgable in this field. and his bound history of the La. Bienvenu's is pretty complete. I studied a copy in the St. Martinville library. Dr.B. retired from his practice here in Baton Rouge about 10years ago, and moved, I believe, to Lafayette. He would be your best lead about Sophie's books.
