Dear Shirley Luther

My name is Lisa Ann Williams. I am the youngest child of Shirley Bienvenu Williams and Joseph Williams. Shirley Bienvenu is the middle child of Alfred Roy Bienvenu born in St. Martinville, La. in 1894 and Olivia Martha Lapeyrouse born in Houma, La.,in 1896. Alfred Roy Bienvenu's descendents are: Paul Henri Bienvenu and Mary Elizabeth Shinn; Stanislaus Devince Bienvenu and Coralie Josephine Bienvenu; Francois Theodule Devince Bienvenu and Marie Fontenette; and Pierre Terville Bienvenu and Genevieve Sophie Guicho De Kerlegand. The line goes all the way back to Pierre Antoine Bienvenue who owned a plantation at the Battle of New Orleans, in Chalmette, La. I found the Attakapas Gazette with the same insciption from your message board, from Dr. Bienvenu. What I am trying to find out is: was Genevieve Sophie Guicho De Kerlegand mulatto? A book on Santa Domingo states Pierre DeKerlegand was from Nantes, France. I can't trace Emilie Grimblot or Guinblot.
I know things are still hush-hush. Just curious- before I go to the marriage records of the Archdiocese. Right now in New Orleans at the Historic New Orleans Collection, there is an exhibit about the Toussaint L' Overture slave rebellion in Santa Domingo. Also if you know anything about Sophie's books. If you can't help me, maybe there are some "Bienvenu's" out there.
There many interesting things in doing your family tree.
Thanks,
LISA A. WILLIAMS, NEW ORLEANS, LA. (850) 485-4589
