My grandmother was Caroline Bieber. Her father Henry (1875-1917) came from Hirschland through Ellis Island in 1902 with his brother Charles (1881-?), wife Katherine (Helmstetter) (1875-1956) and son Henry Jr. (1900-1970). The two Henry's names were americanized from Heinrich and Katherine spelled hers Chaterina in the Ellis records. Henry Jr. also went by the name Harry. They all settled in Buffalo, NY. My grandmother was born in 1905. My grandmother did say her mother came from Alsace-Lorraine from a blended family and had two brothers. I don't know if they shared the last name Helmstetter or if they were full, half or step-brothers. Any info anyone has on any of these people is greatly appreciated.
