Thank you Don, look forward to that.
In my searches, subsequent to my message I've found a reference in my home town of Roxburgh, Central Otago, in the South Island of New Zealand:
BIDGOOD and miners.
The web pages from my old primary school http://www.roxburgh.school.nz/Roxburgh%20Project/RPgold.htmhttp://www.roxburgh.school.nz/Roxburgh%20Project/RPgold.htm
have an article about gold mining in the district.
There was a G BIDGOOD working a claim there in 1924.
...
Mr W.Quin of Tapanui, writing in the Mt Benger Mail of 15th October 1924, gives a list of the early claim on Commissioner flat as follows:— Sandy Carlew, Albert Birch, Tom Loudon, Alec McKenzie, Marsh, Honnor Bros, James and Frank Woodhouse, Tubman Bros, Joseph and James Tamblyn, Gordon Welgrave, Jack Kinaston, G.Bidgood, Anderson, Ned Ward, W.Young, J,Forbes, Joe Haughton, J,Steele, Pat Rickard, J,Fowler, Moore Graham, J.McLauchlan and others.
If he stayed around the district it isn't a name I'm familiar with from there, although most of the other names listed are indeed locals, descendants of whom I went to school with.
