If you look at the ship's log or 1737 for the
"Samuel," you will find the brother of Hans Adam, who acompinied him to America. The original spelliing was Budinger, with an umlau over the u (looked like 2 ii's to some). The Germans spoke no English, came by way of Rotterdam and had their names spelled various ways by sounding it out. The original logs are in the Library of Congress, but they are also on the web.
