I'm not a Bickmore researcher but thought this bit of info may help someone. From an 1891 "Biographical History of Pottawattamie Co, Iowa" there is a bio for WILLIAM N. CONFARR (b. 3/5/1833, Virginia), who married ELIZA BICKMORE, daughter of SEDATE BICKMORE, who was of English descent and emigrated from Maine to Ohio. William and Eliza had a son, Herbert O. Confarr. There is also a note in the bio which states that "The Bicmores own St George's Island off the coast of Maine, which has been in the family for many generations." Hope this helps someone.
