I have, up until now, been unable to find John Wesley Erwin (JWE) on the 1860 census.
I have found a John W Erwin of the correct age (19), b in LA and living in Brazos Co.,
TX with the family of John W Bickham. Since the age is correct, birthplace is correct,
and the family he lived with has his mother's maiden name, I am tentatively identifying ths person as JWE of Caddo Par., LA later of Cass Co., TX., b March 15, 1841 in LA, d
October 10, 1913 in Linden, Cass Co., TX, Baptist Minister.
JWE researchers, do you have other confirmation of this? I knew he was orphaned and lived with a Bickham family in Caddo Par., LA and that these people died before he was
19. Surely, since he wrote widely and has a family who knew about him, someone can confirm this as fact.
How does he relate to the John W. Bickham he was living with?
