Joshua BICKFORD, "Resident in Falmouth", married Abigail WYMAN, intention Falmouth May 1756. [NEHGR Marriage Intentions Falmouth] He was in Bowdoinham, Maine by 1762, also that year of Pownalborough [deeds], of Gouldsboro by 1778 (probably by 1767), and Sullivan by 1790.
It has been suggested that he was the Joshua, son of Thomas & Sarah (SIMPSON) BICKFORD, bp & owned covenant in Newington, NH, 18 Oct 1741. "History of Durham" has that Joshua married 30 March 1742, Mary WESTCOMBE, removed to Durham Falls, and his widow remarried in 1758. That makes more sense.
Note: possibly related to:
an Aaron BICKFORD had marriage intention in Falmouth 1751.
Joshua purchased land in Bowdoinham 1762 bounding on land Benjamin BICKFORD of Durham, NH, who had purchased his land the previous day.
